Get Your Gruve On
With the obesity epidemic on the rise; new inventions are being created left and right to help you lose weight. If you could track your calorie burning for the day with a little device, would you do it? Would it help you shed light on your struggles with weight loss? This new device called the “Gruve,” thinks it may be able to save the nation and get you on track to a healthier life style.
The Gruve Solution™ is a new, completely revolutionary approach to weight management. It isn’t a magic pill, miracle powder or meal replacement plan. It’s not about counting points, cutting carbs, or purchasing body-bending contraptions. And it doesn’t require 60 minutes at the gym 3 times a week or a $100-per-month membership. Instead, the Gruve Solution is an unprecedented, personalized, scientifically proven solution that enables healthy, sustainable weight loss. The Gruve uses an omnidirectional accelerometerto measure activity intensity and duration. Synchronizing your Gruve device with our Gruve web site gives you the ability to view your own daily calorie burn and track your weight loss progress.
I looked all over the web site to find out what made the Gruve different from the Bodybugg. However, I couldn’t seem to find any difference. I do think the Bodybugg is more advanced because it has the wireless wrist watch that syncs to the device. This allows you to see your calories as you burn them.
The Gruve retails for $300 with a year of online subscription. Check out the website at Muveinc.com and tell me what you think!

That’s what I thought!
I have used both the Bodybugg and Gruve side-by-side and the Gruve is more accurate. This is because it is worn on the waist rather than the arm. Research has shown that activity devices should be worn closest to the core of the body for best accuracy.
I also like the color scale that Gruve uses since I hate wearing watches. It gives me a quick idea of where I am at in relation to my goal. If I want the specific numbers, I sync it to my computer and review.
Gruve is simple, helpful, motivating and accurate. It is the future of personal bio-feedback
Thanks for the note slylark. I have been toying with getting the Bodybugg for myself but have dropped a ton of hints for this Christmas season so I was waiting. My gym had a sign out on the Gruve today so I came home to look at it online.
I hope they are not counting on the website to sell product. They do not even show the device and it certainly does not sell itself.
I wonder about the two as the price is about the same it seemed unclear. Will have to do more research but your comments were interesting.
How is it the wrist is better than the tricep as the tricep is bigger and closer to the core?
Jim
Hey Jim,
I think your question was about the bodybugg wrist watch and the actual bodybugg. In order for the watch to work, you must have both the Bug and the watch. This is because the watch syncs to the arm band and give you up to date info like how many calories you are burning per minute, how many steps you have taken, how many calories you burned yesterday, what you targets are for calorie burning in one day, and also how many calories you have burn in that day so far. I love this device and I have learned so much about my body by wearing one. If you are thinking about getting one then I would definitely splurge and get the watch at the same time. It’s really helpful to know how many calories you have burned through out the day. Otherwise, you have to hook it to the computer to find out.
I just want to let you know Jim that I have worn the Body Bugg and the Gruve also side by side. I noticed that if I met my Gruve Goal that I always met and most likely exceeded my Body Bugg goal which makes me think that it is more accurate. I use to be a Body Bugg wearer and was plateaued and about a month into meeting my Gruve goals I had started steadily loosing weight again. I am now at my goal weight and use it to maintain where I am at. It is nice to be able to hide on my waist band too instead of having a bulky thing on my arm as I am in the business world. I hope you find happiness in your decision.
Roddy,
As far as I know the gruve is not water proof. There isn’t a monitor that gives you feed back you must down load it. I was wearing mine on my pants. It just clips on. However, you should check out the bodybugg and the watch. This device doesn’t go in water but it does allow you to put in how much time you swam and get info on the calories you burned during that time!
