Turkish Get Up
Lie on your back with your legs straight. Hold a kettlebell in your right hand with your arm above your chest. Keeping your elbow locked and the weight above you at all times, stand up. Move your legs and left arm underneath you to push yourself up. Keeping your arm straight, reverse the steps to return to the starting position. Repeat with your right arm (source).
This exercise looks simple right!? Getting up and down is something we do everyday. However, doing it while holding a weight over your head changes the movement pattern and makes you work harder to stabilize and move. If you don’t think you can do this with a weight, try holding your hand over your head without the kettlebell.
Weight loss and fitness isn’t complicated but you do have to put some effort into the activities and expend energy to burn calories.
