Most of us take some sort of dietary supplements. In fact, studies show that more than half of Americans do in fact take supplements. The FDA does not regulate this 26 billion dollar market, and according to Consumer Report only 1/3 of the more than 54,000 supplements are proven safe.
Consumer Report Editor, Nancy Metcalf and NBC Doctor, Nancy Snyderman talked about the concerns and dangers of dietary supplements on The Today Show. According to Metcalf and Consumer Report, side effects such as Kidney Failure, Liver Failure, Heart Attack, Heart Arrhythmias, and Strokes to be some of the dangers linked to unregulated supplements. Snyderman stated: “The real concern is that they have never been known to be beneficial but they may be harmful”
