Magazines can be thankful for all those celebrity diets. They fill the pages, sell the magazines, and change often enough to constantly generate content. Millions hop on the latest craze, in hopes of acquiring their idol’s body. Here’s a rundown of some of the most popular ones.
Victoria Beckham’s Diet
Posh Spice has always been known for her impeccable fashion sense, she certainly has a body to go with it. Her vice: the Alkaline diet. The idea behind it is to keep your body’s ph level between 7.35 and 7.40. You stick to the 80/20 diet, eating more vegetables and less grains and proteins. And lucky you, you get to take a pee test every now and again to make sure your ph is on point.
The alkaline diet is based on an eating plan that is very low in acidity and that includes alkaline foods such as raw spinach, avocado, nuts, sprouts, linseed oil, olive oil, cold-water fish and broccoli. The alkaline eating plan also encourages the consumption of large quantities of water. On the other hand, the diet absolutely forbids the consumption of any kind of meat, sugar, caffeine, carbonated drinks, condiments, pastas and white rice (source).
Madonna’s Diet
I will refrain from listing all the ones she’s been through, we don’t have all day. Her latest one, the Macrobiotic diet is for hard core ieters only. It’s extremely strict and rigorous, eliminating all wheat, eggs, meat and dairy. So that pretty much leaves you with air and light..though the diet does encourage the consumption of sea vegetables.
The macrobiotic philosophy is loosely linked to Buddhism, with the foods reflecting Asian influences, according to The Dietitians’ Guide To Vegetarian Diets by Mark Messina and Virginia Kisch Messina (Aspen Publishing). Nutritionist Andrew McPherson, of the Australian Macrobiotics Studies Institute in Queensland, describes the macrobiotics eating plan as a “pre-industrial diet, based more on grains and vegetables and less on processed and animal foods (source).”
Marilyn Monroe’s Diet
Way ahead of her time on many ways, this Hollywood favorite had a rather odd way of keeping in shape. To kick of the day, two raw eggs whipped in warm milk. No lunch, then on to broiled liver, steak, or lamb and five carrots for dinner, topping it all off with a with a hot-fudge sundae. There’s parts of this regime I definitely like. I’ll let you guess which.
Beyonce’s Diet
This fierce lady certainly has a body to kill for. Her secret? An all vegan diet. Add to that her recently completed master cleanse. An all liquid diet comprised of cayenne lemon water, which she used to prepare for her role on “ Dreamgirls”. Kids, please don’t do this at home.
Veganism is a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, eggs, dairy products and all other animal-derived ingredients. Many vegans also do not eat foods that are processed using animal products, such as refined white sugar and some wines (source).
Kate Middleton’s Diet
Our favorite Dutchess owes her Royal frame to the “Dukan Diet”, which helped her look stunning for the Royal wedding. Comprised of 3 phases, it kickstarts you on just proteins and vegetables, then slowly adds food groups back in. It is decided based on your specific type and goals.
The Dukan Diet is a protein based nutritional approach designed by Pierre Dukan, a French nutritionist and dietician. The Dukan Diet, or Dukan method proposes a healthy eating plan which is based on how primitive man used to eat when we were hunter-gatherers (source).
Any of these appeal to you? Any you tried before or thinking about trying? Let us know. Just remember, educate yourself of the benefits and possible risks of each respective diet. Know your body and listen to it. If one doesn’t work for you, move on. No point in wrecking your body over a few pounds.
