If you know that you love the holiday foods but you don’t want to gain the weight that comes with them; then adding in “Mini Workouts,” might be the best way to stay in shape over the holidays.
A “Mini Workout” is anything that helps you burn 100 or more calories in a short amount of time. Simple things like taking a walk after dinner, riding your bike or doing crunches during commercials is an easy way to add in calorie burning. (Click on the link at the end of the page for more calorie burning info)
As a trainer I advise some of my clients to get off the couch and onto the floor to do an abdominal routine during commercials or in between household tasks. This may seem like a hard thing to do but once you get going you will be motivated to do more!
Starting your day with exercise is a GREAT way to keep you active all day long. If you know that you are going to be eating more calories then usual, then this can start your day off in the right direction.
Eat a snack before going to your BIG MEAL… this will make it easier to stay away from all those ” bad foods.”
Never underestimate the power of your mind. If you make a decision to eat healthy before you get to your destination then you will be more apt to stick to it.
Use this calorie calculator to find ways to burn 100 calories through out your day…
