If you love Jillian Michaels then you shouldn’t miss this show! Since Jill is mostly portrayed as the “villain” on the “Biggest Loser,” it’s interesting to see her from all aspects. In her own show, she’s still somewhat of a “yeller.” However, without the focus on so many contestants you get to know her a little better.
In the first show, Jillian helps an Italian family battle their war against food. The mother has lost and gained 100 pounds 7 times and struggles with the loss of a son who died as an infant. The father had gastric bypass surgery and gained back all the weight. The daughter also had gastric bypass, she kept the weight off but still views herself as the “fat girl” from her past. The son battles with weight as well and wants to get in shape. The goal of the whole family is to get in shape for the daughters wedding that is quickly approaching.
Unlike “The Biggest Loser,” this show only spans over a week. Through out that week, Jillian beats them up in the gym (while doing a lot of yelling), coaches them on cooking and shopping for food, and gets to the heart of their weight issues. As usual, there is a lot of crying and a lot of problem solving.
At the end of the show, Jill returns for the families wedding to see how they did. All lost weight and seemed very happy with their results.
The show was good and it was nice to see Jillian in a different light. I was somewhat upset that they didn’t wait longer to show more weight loss from the family. I never agree with the amount of yelling that happens but I understand her motives. The wedding at the end of the show seemed more about Jillian and not enough about the bride and the wedding. Overall, it’s a show worth watching so that people can really understand what it takes to lose weight and solve the issues that plague their lives.
