There are so many trends and gimmicks fighting for your attention that it can be hard sometimes to stick to the basics. But sticking to the fitness basics doesn’t mean you have to settle for the same thing all the time. Within the framework of full body workouts, cardio work, stretching and proper rest and nutrition there is nearly an unlimited amount of variety to work with. The basics endure because they work and hype and marketing can’t change this. Stay patient, work hard, stick to the fitness basics and you will thrive all year long.
Basics Not Boring
Part of the reason people tend to stray from the fitness basics is the new products and latest techniques promise to transform you with minimal effort and in record time. The basics aren’t easy, they take hard work and discipline, and you’ll need to exercise patience. But on the other hand they work – for everyone. Are the fitness basics boring? Circuits, hot yoga and twenty-rep squats aren’t boring. But maybe they’re not for you. There are plenty of other things to try from repeats on a track to mountain hikes to floating in warm water for relaxation. The basics offer you so many options you can get fit, stay fit and never be bored.
Fitness Basics – Keep it Simple
For most people the fitness basics are more than enough to get us fit and keep us fit for a lifetime. However, working out 3-4 times a week is only part of the equation. Just as important as the time and effort you spend exercising are all the things you should be doing outside the gym.
