New gimmicks come out every day. Freezing your fat has now become a common commercial on TV (at least in California). It’s the newest non invasive way to get rid of fat. This FDA approved procedure allows doctors to zone in on one area and literally freeze the fat in that area while allowing the outside skin to stay unaffected by the procedure.
How does Freezing Your Fat Work?
the Doctor applies uses a machine that pulls the targeted fat between 2 cooling panels. The treatment can last up to one hours depending upon the area that your are targeting.
Who Should Do This Fat Freezing Procedure
According to Dr.Eviatar, CoolSculpting is meant for people who have exercise resistant fat bulges. This sounds like 99% of the population right !?? While Eviatars standards for candidates are extremely general, the machine itself has more say in who can use this fat loss method. Currently, the machine can only treat pockets of unwanted fat. These pockets are usually mainly in the upper and lower abdomen and the back.
IS Freezing Fat Effective?
Lets be really, can you really expect results from a non invasive ice machine?? According to Eviatar, CoolSculpting, shows between a 20 – 25 % decrease in fat (in the selected target area). You will have to do the procedures for 2 – 4 months to get the full affect. Since this freezing process has a similar affect as liposcution (just less invasive) the fat cell are removed from that area. Meaning if you gain back fat in the future, it will most likely be stored in a different area of your body with more fat cells to hold the access weight.

How Does the Fat Leave Your Body After the Fat Freezing Process??
Where does fat go when it dies??? After freezing it goes to the fat mortuary where it is cremated. Just kidding, the fat cells die and they are shuttled out of your body as dead cells through your urine. There have been no noted side affected from this procedure such as burning or aggravation while urinating.
What Are the Risks and Side Affects Associated With Freezing Fat / CoolSculpting
To date, there have been no horrible side affects from freezing fat or CoolSculpting. How there are some minor side affects such as bruising, tingling, tightness, and temporary numbness that could last from a couple day to a couple weeks.
SO why isn’t everyone rushing out to freeze their fat!? First off it’s expensive. Meaning that each area that you choose to treat is $ 750.00 and up! Second if you have 2 sides of that area, such as “love handles,” you have to pay for each side.
From a trainer perspective, freezing your fat seems like a quick fix with results that are temporary. For most people who are plagued with unwanted fat, it’s a result of their eating habits and sedentary lifestyle. If you remove the fat in a “problem area,” you decrease the fat cells in that area. If you gain that weight back, it will be diverted to an area of your body that you didn’t store fat in before (such as your arms or hips ect). I saw this a lot when people at the gym would undergo liposuction. The cells would be removed from their midsection, then they would gain the weight back and all of the sudden they had gained the weight in their thighs. This was crazy because they had always had amazing legs! I think it’s important to realize that if you don’t change how you move and eat, the problems will never really go away.
