Interactive gaming isn’t anything new, virtual reality games have been in progress for several years. However, now there’s one that actually lets you feel like your in the environment. Realm has developed a system which allows the users to feel resistance to deliver and experience like no other. The resistance device, works with Oculus Rift.
The resistance system is attached to the waist and hands of the participant. Lastly, the head set is worn over the eyes (not shown below). It can also be linked to the tv, without the head set.
Realm allows the user to feel resistance as it preforms activities in the virtual world. For instance, hacking up a zombie with an ax as they fight their way through various levels. The same idea is applied when the user is driving race cars. They feel the pressure and tension of the wheel in their hands.
Even if your not a fan of virtual reality, you can still benefit from the device. The video shows a boxer who’s not wear the head gear but still gets the benefits for the resistance attachments.
Th Realm System measures energy output, and movement via sensors in the device. These sensors track hand and body movement. It also measures acceleration speed, positioning, and orientation.
“The system uses a unique algorithm that uses resistance to deliver incredibly accurate biometric information such as power and force.”
While this product hasn’t been released yet, the company welcomes any order via their kickstarter page. Early orders for Realm System are $200.00 When the company reaches their goal, the product is set to be delivered in September. I’m hoping that advancements in technology such as this lead to more and more interactive workout products that make exercise a fun experience for all.
* Keep in mind that device needs a webcam or sensor equipment to work, which is not included with the kit on kickstarter.
