Maintaining a healthy weight is incredibly important to your body. Through out time new surgeries have emerged such as, gastric bypass, and lap-band. While these surgeries have the ability to limit your food intake and help you lose weight, they aren’t always a solution and can sometimes lead to other serious issues. The newest surgery on the market made me do a “double take!” To my surprise, my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me, this surgery is not a joke! Watch the video below and be horrified (WARNING!! If you have a weak stomach avoid the video)
The video is long so if you want to skip to the patch go to minute 2:00.
This patch which is sewn into the tongue makes it difficult and painful to consume food. The patch forces the patient to literally starve themselves. Despite warnings the surgery can cause nerve damage and complications swallowing. The patch costs roughly $1,500 dollars and another $250 per month for liquid vitamins.
Unlike other weight loss surgeries, this one can be easily reversed by removing the patch after the weight loss has been achieved. However, nerve damage could be a side affect that’s not worth risking.
While many will go to any extreme to shed weight, this version of dieting based on slow starvation and a forced liquid diet isn’t the solution! Gimmicks will always be gimmicks, you must find the source or your issues with food and make time for exercise.
