Optical illusions have helped people look thinner for ages. Trainers also use this to balance out clients bodys and make them appear more proportionate. For example, if you have a small waist; you can make your shoulders a little bit broader to make your waist appear longer and thinner. Of course everyone knows that wearing black makes you appear smaller, but what about tanning? Kelly Osbourne claims that self tanning helps her look 10 pounds smaller! However, her new ad campaign for a self tanning company has caused waves….
The Prince’s Trust charity — for whom Osbourne is an ambassador — has pulled its endorsement of the star’s St. Tropez ad campaign after parents argued the spray tan company’s message was inappropriate for the disadvantaged children the organisation seeks to help.
Titled “Self Esteem” the advertisements suggested that feeling good about oneself is tied to looking thin and pretty.
“I looked healthy, I looked like 10 pounds skinnier, and it started to make me look at my body in a different way,” Osbourne said in the video, which has since been removed from St. Tropez’s Web site.
“It made me look at what looked better rather than what I didn’t like, and I kind of got addicted (source).”

Well I guess if you are going to tan to look smaller, it’s better to use a self tanner then the sun. This is a safe way to get your tan and avoid skin cancer. You can’t fault a person for trying to look better, especially with the pressure that people put on celebrities today.
