While surfing the web for great new topics to post on the site … I ran across one that hit home (literally)! This story is about one of my cousins! It was posted on one of my favorite sites (fitsugar).
I am proud to say that I once played basketball against Tina. She was ALWAYS a natural athlete! Even at such a young age you knew that there was something special about her. She was BY FAR thee fastest athlete in the Vancouver area!
Although she turned down a full ride schoolarship to Santa Clara University. Determined, she showed up at University of Washington’s soccer tryouts as a “walk on,” and made the team! It’s hard enough to be a full time college student, much less play a competitive sport and be a mother all at the same time!
I was surprised to find out that while preparing for the Olympics, Tina found out that she was pregnant with her second child from her husband Brad Ellertson. Although at Christmas she was barely showing (at 5 months); she told me she was still doing sprints and training as hard as possible for the games. That’s true determination!
Although Tina is currently on leave from the team, she still hopes to return for the 2008 Olympics games. “Ellertson is considered one of the fastest players in team history. Tina also scored 42 goals during her undergraduate years while earning a degree in economics with a gpa of 3.5 (credit).”
Congratulations on your new child! We are rooting for you Tina! You bring new meaning to the term “Soccer Mom!”
