So, I’m kind of really into a new class at my gym that has me…sprinting!
Now, if you guys have been reading my posts the last few months then you knew I despise, hate, want to punch anything around me when I even think about doing cardio. Now, I’m full on sprinting and running for an intense 30 minutes and I’m more than thrilled to be doing so. Here’s why: It’s making me lose weight. It’s that simple.
Since I started this class, which has been about a week, I’m losing weight. My scale does not lie and I’m eating exactly the same. All signs point to my sprinting.
I want to preface this post by saying my results may be a bit premature, but I really think it’s due to my sprinting.
Why am I focusing so much on the sprinting portion of this class that also does light weight training and endurance runs? Well, I’ve been hearing for years, after years that basically sprinting is where it’s at. AKA: Sprinting makes you burn more calories. That is all.
FitTip #1: When sprinting you are making your muscles work at their maximum capacity and this intensity is much like lifting heavy weights.
When you run as fast as you can for a short period of time you are using the same amount of effort when you make your body squat half way down your body.
Boom.
Mind.
Blown.
My class also does 30 minutes of weights, so basically when we do 30 minutes of sprinting and 30 minutes of weight training(on Monday he does arms and on Wednesday he does legs) we’re basically doing double weights while burning more calories.
FitTip #2: Higher heart rate, higher amount of calories burned.
Your maximum heart rate is being exercised when you’re sprinting, unlike steady running. So you could burn the same amount of calories sprinting in half the time of a steady run.
Are you a sprinting tomorrow?! I am!
Sprinting Away,
Bianca
