In a previous article; I wrote about bringing new life to your old gym shoes with inserts. A good friend of mine read the article and let me in on “Super Feet.” The good people over at super feet were nice enough to send me some inserts to try out. After wearing the inserts for close to a week now, I have noticed changes in my knees, my muscle balance and the ways I stand and walk. I also have less joint pain and my posture has improved.
If you aren’t familiar with these inserts; they were created by foot doctors as a cheaper alternative to orthotics. They keep your foot in a neutral position as you carry out the activities of the day.
In many cases people internally rotate or externally rotate as they walk (as seen above). This leads to muscle imbalances, joint instability, and (over time) pain. Since the body is all linked, small issues in your feet can travel up your body and cause agitation in other parts, such as your hips, back, and neck.
For me, these inserts have change the way I stand, they have helped with my knee pain and they have begun to fix weak muscles in my calves. My posture has improved due to proper heal support.
If you aren’t sure if you actually need these inserts (based on pain) then flip your shoes over; look for irregular wear pattens. If you have excess wear on the inside or outside of your shoes, then this can lead to imbalanced muscles and joints pain in the years to come! If you suffer from chronic issues such as plantar fasciitis and shin splints, this is also a clue that imbalances occur.
Check out Super Feet inserts for every type of shoe. It won’t just change the way you walk, it will save you money, time, and pain.
