The life span for Americans gets longer every decade. Now, with the help of modern inventions, the longevity of man kind could be getting longer due to devices that help you walk.
Honda will showcase an experimental model of a walking assist device which could support walking for the elderly and other people with weakened leg muscles, at the International Trade Fair on Barrier Free Equipments & Rehabilitation for the Elderly & the Disabled.
The compact design of the device was achieved with flat brushless motors and a control system developed by Honda. Honda began research of a walking assist device in 1999 with a goal to provide more people with the joy of mobility.
Sure, this device would help our elderly move around more efficiently; but what if you could strap this thing on and run to work at a faster pace. You could burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time! However, they might have to develop impact resistant shoes to support your joints from wear and tear. With inventions like these, obesity might become a thing of the past.
