My favorite magazine wrote an article on how to get your back in shape for summer. Here’s the article.
Set Up: Stand tall and hold a barbell with an overhand grip. Bend 45 degrees at the waist. Keep your core engaged to protect your lower back.
Action: Keep your arms close to your torso and pull the barbell toward your waist. Be sure to squeeze your shoulder blades and hold for a count of two. Slowly lower the bar to the starting position. Tip: Initiate the move from your back, not your arms. (Think of your arms merely as hooks.)
Not only do back exercises help to sculpt muscle, they also burn TONS of calories! They are one of the biggest groups of muscles in the human body. Doing large muscle groups helps you to burn the most amount of calories FAST! Keep this in mind when you are on the go with little time to do every muscle. Do the largest ones to burn max calories.
