Remember back in the day when the grains made up the bulk of the food pyramid? Well that’s all been changed! Now, fruits and vegetables make up the base of the pyramid. However, I don’t know many people who eat this way. If you look closely, you’ll notice that they have also incorporated physical activity in the center of the pyramid, something that has never been added before! Bravo to the Mayo clinic to be the first to make physical activity part of our everyday plan.
If it were up to me I would make one more small change to the pyramid. I recommend that the bottom actually be all vegetables and the level with grains be split between fruits and grains. This seems like a more reasonable balance of carbohydrates with a high amount of fiber. If you eat the way the Mayo recommends, or the way I mentioned above you are sure to be healthier person and lose some excess weight and body fat!
