Brain fog, we’ve all been there! How or why do we get brain fog and how can we prevent it from being a daily occurrence? You know those days when you can’t seem to find your wallet, your keys, your purse, then you get to work and everything seems to be an extra challenge. You begin to forget appointments and dates. Your train of thought won’t stay on task and the confusion makes you even more exhausted! If any of this sounds familiar then it’s possible you’re one of the many suffering from brain fog.
Common reasons you could be experiencing brain fog
1.) You’re detoxing. Late night out drinking and partying with your crew? It could take days for your body to filter out that “fun” and get your body back on the straight and narrow. If you want to speed things up, take magnesium after your night at the club or you’re book club with the girls. Magnesium will zap the hang over by giving your body and brain back what it needs to recover.
You’re healthy cleanse is sending you into a fog while you clear out the junk, excess sugars, and toxins. While it’s always good to get rid of toxins, you may need a bit of help! Try using a small dose of charcoal to absorb the toxins as you clear away the junk! There is a great coconut charcoal made by the bulletproof brand.
2.) You’re allergic – no one wants to hear this, but food that you’re intolerant to or allergic to can have a huge impact on how you think and how you function. Since you body perceives them as toxins, they too send you into detox mode which can lead to brain fog, low energy, horrible mood swings and restless sleep!
3.) Candida – if you don’t know what it is then it’s time you checked out this article “Is Candida Fogging Your Brain?!” Candida is major cause of brain fog and comes from an over growth of yeast in your gut. Know the signs and read up on how to prevent it and reverse the affects.
4.). Too much sugar. The ups and downs of sugar spikes in the blood steam can create and internal chaos that feels like an emotional roller coaster of hunger and emotions. Stopping sugar abruptly sounds like an amazing idea, but in all honestly, slowly lowering it over time (1-2 weeks) is actually the best option to ease your body into a low sugar, lower carb eating routine. Without the sugar fluctuations you’ll finally be able to concentrate!
5. Hormone imbalances – got a thyroid issue? What about an autoimmune disorder? Both of these are huge culprits in brain fog. One day your living happily ever after, the next you can’t remember the most basic facts. Autoimmune disorders hinge on balancing your immune system. Eat foods that are clean, and avoid foods that could be causing extra stress on your immune function such as the Nightshade group. If you want a complete comprehensive food plan with allergy friendly, and autoimmune friendly recipes, take a look at our newest program “The Body Burn 28 Day Quick Start,” it has everything you need to get healthy and stay healthy.
My Top Supplements For Reducing Brain Fog
Supplements are key to helping your immune system and your brain function at peak performance. Here are my top 4.
1.) Bulletproof Coffee – I know this isn’t a supplement, but I take like one! The balance of MCT oil and ghee with mold free coffee helps to restore my gut, and kill bad bacteria that’s causing excess brain fog. It also gives my brain the fat it needs to function through the morning.
2.) Carotenoids – We all like to think that we get enough vitamins and minerals from our foods, but lets be real, we don’t! This pill is my “go to” for energy, clarity, and sanity! It keeps my immune system strong and my energy levels up. It’s derived from all the “colors” of the vegetables and fruits. The reds, deep greens, oranges etc. The only brand I recommend is the NeoLife brand. I have tried many others and they don’t seem to be as clean or as effective.
3.) CILTEP with Dopamine – If I want to knock out loads of work, stay focused, and feel amazing, this is my “Go To.” Two of these in the AM paired with dopamine, and I feel like I’m on a natural high all day! I explain more in this previous article on CILTEP.
4.) Magnesium – Taking this supplement at night reduces stress, balances moods, restores mental focus, and helps your body heal from daily life as you sleep. It’s also great for muscle recovery. Currently I am loving the Natural Stack Brand of magnesium, MagTech.
Natural Stacks MAGTECH with Magnesium L-Threonate BRAIN MAGNESIUM COMPLEX
*It won’t send you running to the bathroom like other brands (it uses a different type of magnesium).
You’re mind is your money! Without it you can’t work, you can’t carry on a fluid conversation, and you can’t maintain a healthy and productive life. Hopefully, these fitness tips will help you clear away some of the brain fog, so that you can get back to enjoying life again!
