I’m obsessed with hair. Sometimes my obsession with hair is a bit excessive. I know this about myself. Being a girl, I’m lucky, because hair extensions are so popular that I can practically have any hair I want, all I have to do is go to Sally Beauty Supplies and buy it. If this is blowing your mind, I apologize, but 90% of women in LA have extensions in their head or have had hair extensions in there head at some point in their life. All that being said, I prefer going the natural route as much as possible. We are what we eat, so why not eat to great hair? Most of these foods you probably already eat, but next time you have the option over chicken or beef, go with chicken it’s better for your hair!
Let me break it down for you. Here are my top 3 Hair Improving Foods:
Chicken:
Without the proper amount of protein our hair can become brittle and weak. The Iron in poultry is “bio-available” meaning it’s easy for your body to adsorb. BUT, be careful how you cook it, when chicken is fried it’s high in cholesterol and not as easy to absorb.
Nuts:
Nuts, especially Brazil nuts, Cashews, Walnuts and Almonds are high in zinc and selenium which are important when producing healthy tissue especially in the scalp. So grab some nuts!
*FIT TIP: Get the 50% less salt nuts at Trader Joes, they’re delicious and have all the nuts above!
Eggs:
I love eggs! I sometimes just eat the whites and throw out the yolk, but now I’ll be eating 1 yolk with my whites! The cholesterol in one egg isn’t going to kill you, it’s when you have multiple yolks in the day. The yolk has more protein AND biotin. I take biotin in the pill form, it’s known to help prevent breakage by protecting the hair follicle. So eat the yolk, it’s all natural biotin.
Locks and Love,
Bianca
