Excuse Busters – Ditch the Excuses to Find Your Lasting Results

Tired of not getting the body you want?   It takes determination and consistency to get to your goal.  You must earn it.  If it feels like it’s finally time to ditch your excuses and find your results, then read on!  Use these fitness tips and excuse busters to get the body you deserve.

EXCUSE #1: “I don’t have time to exercise!”

BUSTED!  Time throughout your day to get in at least some walking. Take the stairs for at least a few flights.  Park further away from your destination.  Make the most of the commercial breaks while watching television and do some push-ups for goodness sake. If losing weight is important to you, then make it a priority. How many times have you heard this? But, really, it’s good advice. You must take care of yourself first before you can even attempt to take care of anyone else.

EXCUSE  #2: “I’m tired all the time!”

BUSTED!  Exercising will actually give you more energy and even improve your mood. Exercise will also improve your quality of sleep. Exercise doesn’t have to be boring either.  There are plenty of classes at your local gym that offer yoga or cycling.  You could also dust off your old sports equipment and join a local sports team.  Choose your favorite sport and/or activity and get back in the game!

EXCUSE #3: “I have too many responsibilities after work!”

BUSTED! Become a morning person! No, really. It’s not as terrible as it sounds. If you exercised before work, it would actually give you more energy for your day.  Plus, you would feel accomplished simply by knowing that you have already got your workout done for the day.  This will lead to less feelings of guilt because of all of the excuses you will not have to make up during the day to rationalize not having to workout later in the day.
Working out before anyone else wakes up has it’s own rewards. If you’re just starting out, you might be a little self-conscious of your body. By working out in the morning, you are more likely able to avoid other people and you’d be able to compete with yourself and not worry about anyone else. This will give you some alone time, as well.

EXCUSE #4: “I don’t want to exercise by myself!”

BUSTED! Obviously, find a workout buddy. Try to find someone who has similar goals and will hold you accountable everyday for working out.  You are more likely to show up to the gym if you know someone is waiting for you.  Also, he/she doesn’t necessarily have to be at the same physical fitness level as you.  If he/she is a little farther down the road on their weight loss journey, then some friendly competition between the two of you might serve you well.
Did any of these excuses sound familiar? It’s going to be okay, most of us have used them at some point.  Now what are you going to do with this new knowledge? Will you just let it pass by or will you actually use it? Remember, champions are made when they put in the work while everyone else is resting. Get someone else involved in your workout routine, post progress pictures on Facebook and/or Instagram, and most importantly, do it for yourself because no one is going to do it for you, and that is the best part.
