Although both smoking and obesity are bad for your health is now been found that the amount of people that are obese exceeds the amount of people that smoke, drink heavily, and live below the poverty line.
This study was done by the RAND institute in Santa Monica. Using the body mass index almost 10,000 people took a survey. The participants were asked about their weight, unhealthy habits (such as drinking, smoking, etc) and their income. The outcome of this research showed that people who were overweight and obese had a much great occurrence of the top 17 health issues.
It is now being said that since obesity is on the rise and Americans are now at a much higher risk; they should devote the same amount of money to fighting obesity as they do to fighting smoking.
Most people in today’s society know that being overweight is not the best thing for their body and appearance. However, research like this that compares it to the evils of smoking could make the world look at in a whole new light. Weight can ruin your body, kill your self esteem, and start a pattern of unhealthy living for your children. It is time that the world take it seriously as a true problem and disease and stop the patterns of food abuse in society.
