I don’t know why I didn’t think to use parchment bags before but they have opened my eyes to a whole new way of cooking healthy! They are also cheap, they make cleaning up a snap, and they have the ability to keep foods tender and moist without being overcooked and dry.
The best thing about using parchment bags is that it’s similar to a crockpot without all the extra mess. You can set it (in the oven), set a timer, and forget it! Then when you’re done, discard the messy bag and clean any extra juices off your pan.
What you will need to make these fitness tips work for you…
1.) Parchment Bags
2.) Your favorite marinades, seasonings (or seasoning packets), spray olive oil.
3.) Meat (of any kind), Veggies and or potatoes.
My new favorite spices mixes come from a company called “Urban Accents” you can use them for meats, fishes, veggies and anything you want to throw in your bag.

How to Use Parchment Bags in Healthy Recipes
While the recipes are endless, I will give you an example of what I used the other night. This was a herb chicken that turned out perfect!
1.) Set the oven to 350 degrees
2.) Use 2 chicken breasts. Spray them with a light bit of olive oil. Coat them in the Urban Kitchen – Athenian Herb Rub on both sides.
Another great fitness find is the “Simply Organics” Spice packet with parchment bags. You get multiple uses out of one box and more then one parchment bag.
3.) Place them in a parchment bag then fold the bag 2 -3 times.
Fitness Tips: Makes sure the vent side of the parchment bag is on TOP.
4.) Place the bag on a cooking sheet. Then place them in the oven for 30 – 35 minutes.
5.) Remove from the oven and check to make sure they are done.
CAUTION: Steam will flow out of the bag rapidly when opening it, make sure you don’t burn your fingers or face. Using oven gloves or allowing it to cool first is a better option. OR cut it open carefully. However, cutting the bag open doesn’t allow you to retain the moisture if you have to throw it back in the oven.
This same sort of recipe can double for vegetables. Last night I used zucchini and squash with onions and seasoning. I also used a couple sprays of olive oil. I tossed them in a ziplock bag, shook them up, then placed them in a parchment bag and into the oven! Done and done, healthy meal was ready in 30 minutes! No mess. No stress.
This these fitness tips come in handy when you are on the go but you still want to eat healthy with less clean up time. Eating clean doesn’t have to be complicated. Make sure you save this post by posting it to your facebook wall or printing it out. You might need it in the near future.
