How Cortana Can Become Your Virtual Fitness Assistant

Most Iphone users know about Seri, their virtual assistant.  On the Microsoft end, Cortana is their version of a virtual phone assistant.   Whether you are scheduling appointments, making phone calls or finding directions, these audio phone aids can come to your rescue time and time again. When it come to fitness, few people have tapped in to their full potential.    There are many benefits to using the fitness app associated with the Microsoft system.     The app tacks your workout days, notes when you’ve missed some, and even tries to schedule days into your schedule when you’ve been slacking.   If you need help finding exercises, local gyms or routines, Cortana, is at your service.

“Let’s say you are in the habit of working out every Tuesday and Thursday morning at the gym, but take it easy over the weekends. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings, Cortana will alert you that it’s gym day and remind you to take your training kit. Clicking on “It’s a workout day” will take you to the Health & Fitness app, where you can find different workouts to try.

Cortana looks out for you, so if you happen to miss your Tuesday morning workout, Cortana will ask if you want to block some time on your calendar to make up for it. With one click you can launch the calendar app and schedule another workout. Sometimes, a little nudge is all it takes (Bing Blog).”

If you want to take the fitness app a step further, you can purchase the wristband which allows you to talk directly to Cortana.   You can make notes, check your heart rate, tell you how bad the UV rays are that day (so you can apply sunscreen of course), and monitor every step you take!
