I know that healthy and fast food don’t seem to go in the same sentence but let’s be real, you’re going to eat out from time to time. “If you’re gonna do it,” means just that! IF you’re going to eat out then we’ll arm you with the tools to keep you healthy, and lean without it affecting your goals! Baja Fresh does have some healthy fast food options so if you’re going to eat there, follow our lead and avoid the pit falls of excess cheese, sauces, overloading on carbs and gorging on chips while you wait for your food!
American Style Taco – No cheese
This taco is a good size and you can load it up with any extra salsas from the salsa bar. Keep in mind that even though we said NO cheese (to cut calories and excess fat) there’s already plenty of fat in the meat and on the tortilla. I watched carefully as all tortillas were dipped in the oil bath before being placed on the grill! Omit the cheese and avoid the sour cream and opt for salsa!
This calorie count is WITH cheese so I believe it’s probably more like 180 calories
Baja Fresh Ensalada – Shrimp, Chicken or Steak.
All of these options are good but the best one (calorically) is actually shrimp. I personally love the chicken version. These calorie counts are WITHOUT the dressing!!
Thought Fajitas were a healthy option?? Well they are BUT the tortillas mixed with the meat add up! They range from 800 calories to 1114 and up to 30 grams of fat!!

- Endless trips to the soda fountain
- Cheese Sauce
- Anything Fried
- Carb overloading with rice and beans and chips OH MY
- Excessive Avocado and Guacamole
- Sour Cream – trust me, it’s overrated.
The best thing to do at any restaurant is to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Go with basics and don’t eat horrible just because you are eating out. That seems to be an excuse that many people use. Your body doesn’t know that you only eat out 3 times a week, it just knows that the excess fat, carbs and calories are in abundant supply. Meaning, it will “save” them for a rainy day 😉
