Laying in bed I saw this commercial. However, I wasn’t sure if I was on the right channel. This somewhat risky clip seemed to be drawing in more attention from the guys rather then Jenny Craig’s female dominated crowd. No normal commercial would do for a diva like Mariah Carey. With Mariah as the new spokesperson, there was also another HUGE change for the company, THERE NAME! Forget the name “Jenny Craig,” they have traded up for a simple, easy to remember, “Jenny.” Honestly, I like it better.
Right now, the video campaign is an extension of the YouTube teaser revealed in October, but Carey says that she’ll film more spots, featuring some of her own music. Her 1991 single “Make It Happen” will be repurposed as a theme song of her.
“The ‘Make It Happen’ song resonates with people because it comes from a real place,” she said. “I had to push through a lot of adversity in my life and this is just the next chapter.”

Mariah has lost 30lbs since delivering the twins in April of this year. The twins took a toll and Carey and when asked about the press banter this is what she had to say….
“If they want to rag at me for looking like a huge boat, like that wasn’t my fault, I couldn’t help it,” she says. “Carrying two human lives inside me and doing the best I could. What am I going to do?”
Carey joins previous Jenny spokeswomen such as Sarah Rue, Valerie Bertinelli, Carrie Fisher and Kirstie Alley (source).
Impressive marketing for “Jenny,” however, you can’t help but think that this multi million dollar company is taking a huge hit for luring in such a big name. I am positive that it will all pay off in the end. The strategic move to get Mariah involved will also pull in a younger market. While I agree with eating healthier, I can think of hundreds of ways to improve on this program. Don’t forget that how you look and feel isn’t just about what you consume!
