Ok, I know what you are thinking, this doesn’t exist. Fat is based on calories, activity and lifestyle right? That’s basically what I thought until I read an article written by the Wall Street Journal.
This study linked viral infections to coronary artery disease. Animals that had been infected with adenovirus-36 had more body fat then animals not infected. This virus is similar to ones that cause colds, diarrhea, and pink eye. If that’s the case then we are all in trouble!
When the University of California performed a study on childeren, they found a 90% obesity rate in childeren who had already been infected with this virus. As adults, 20-30 percent of obese people today are infected with this virus as opposed to 5% of lean people (Fitness Rx).
So what does this mean for the ever growing obese population??? There may be hope for obesity! If this study is accurate, then science can find a way to combat the virus that is adding to our obesity rates. However, it can’t make you eat healthy, stay active, change your lifestyle, or adhere to our fitness tips. Keep doing everything you can to stay healthy and fit until science finds a way to pin point this Fat Virus.
