That funny green stuff that gets tangled in your toes at the ocean could be the solution to fat loss. Ancient cultures have been eating it for years and now it’s making it’s way into numerous weight loss supplements.
This green plant known as a “weed” is actual an algae and is packed full of vitamins and minerals essential to life. A study done at the Newcastle University in the U.K. found that alginate (a natural fiber found in sea kelp), prevents the body from absorbing fat. This fiber works SO well that it beats out all of the “over the counter” fat loss aids on the market. It has the ability to block 75 percent fat uptake !!!
So does this mean you are stuck eating sushi and seaweed salad everyday??? That could lead to some expensive bills! You’ll be happy to know that this new research has sparked some creativity in the food industry. You could start to see weight loss foods that incorporate seaweed into your breads , biscuits, and pastas. While the thought of seaweed bread isn’t appealing, this fiber will probably go undetected (flavor wise). This would mean that three quarters of the fat you consume will just pass through your body without storing on your “problem areas.”
Until these products hit the market, try to increase your seaweed intake in a natural way. If you know you are going to have an especially fattening day, try to introduce a bit of seaweed, or sushi into your diet. They also sell thinks like “seaweed snacks” which are kelp chips. These could be consumed along with your most fat laden meals.
