These little prepared shakes promise huge changes through advertising; yet how many people do you know that have actually lost weight using them??? If you do know someone who has lost weight using slim fast, then chances are they haven’t kept the weight off.
The slim fast diet helps you lose weight by reducing your calorie intake (without you thinking about it). “Drink one shake for breakfast, one for lunch and then a sensible dinner (the advertising says).” Recently, the company has come out with slim fast bars to eat as snacks between you major meals.
The Main Problems
- The shakes have a large amount of sugar and not enough protein.
- The diet is hard to maintain.
- The diet doesn’t teach you the correct way to eat which almost guarantees that you will gain the weight back.
- This can cause “yo-yo” dieting which can create a slow metabolism and muscle loss.
If you are going to purchase slim fast I would use it as a snack shake, or something you can drink fast after your workout before you have a chance to eat dinner or lunch. You would be better off purchasing a high quality protein shake with a moderate to low amount of carbohydrates.
