Hollywood star Tom Cruise has been making movies since the early 1980’s when he appeared Taps with Sean Penn and Timothy Hutton. Although blessed with matinee idol good looks, Cruise has consistently worked to stay movie star fit as he’s aged under the unforgiving Hollywood spotlight. The famous beach volleyball scene in the 1986 Top Gun is etched in many fans’ memories as the epitome of eighties hunks on display. Cruise is 31 years older now, but boasts the body of a much younger man. The star credits his hard work as well as help from a personal chef and workout advice from the likes of British soccer star David Beckham.
Looking Good Naked
Most people aren’t very comfortable being naked, let alone being naked in a movie that will be seen by millions of people. But this is what Tom Cruise did for his latest release – The Mummy. Attention to diet and nutrition is key to Cruise maintaining his movie star fit physique. With the help of his personal chef Cruise aims to consume 1000-1,200 calories each day favoring lean proteins like grilled chicken and fish with vegetables. His between meal snacks are often nuts and protein shakes. He likes to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to help keep his body temperature constant.
Cruising past 55
Looking good on camera is part of Tom Cruise’s job and the camera can be unforgiving. He is known to take his workouts seriously, not only to stay movie star fit, but to allow him to continue to perform many of his own stunts. His goal is a lean muscularity, not bulging muscles so he takes advantage of a variety of activities to get in shape including weight training, jogging, fencing and hiking. Cruise’s workouts aim to reduce his body fat so cardio work is emphasized without neglecting muscle building.
