As many know, I am gluten intolerant. This has created tons of obstacles in my life. Eating quick and easy foods, isn’t so “easy.” Based on this I started searching for things to make my life easier while eating healthy foods that were void of gluten. The brown rice tortillas have now become a staple in my diet.
At first eating these tortillas was much like eating cardboard. However, with a little tweaking, I found a way to enjoy them while saving my teeth. Here’s the one rule everyone should know about eating brown rice tortillas….
You must heat them up and consume them quickly before then turn to stone!
I heat mine in the microwave, but I think they would be just as good without the radiation. Try putting them in a skillet with a little bit of spray olive oil. Heat them just enough to get them pliable. Then consume them quickly.
These go great with lunch meat, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and any other typical sandwich ingredient. The best thing about this wrap is that is considered a whole food so it’s better for your blood sugar since it breaks down slower than normal tortillas. They are about 130 calories, and 24 carbohydrates.
It’s one of the best things I have found for my gluten intolerance and whole food eating! You can pick them up at Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s!
