What Does That Weight Loss Really Mean – Decode the pounds

Many people are addicted to the scale.   Sometimes, it can either make, or break their day.  With that being said, very few step on the scale and know the break down for each pound, half a pound or less.   This could make all the difference in how you view your progress.   With this knowledge you can either pat yourself on the back or motivate yourself to eat better or workout harder!  Use this cool chart to break down your weight loss.

Whether you’re saving calories by creating a calories deficit (dieting) or burning extra calories (exercising or moving more), this breakdown gives you a good idea of how calories reflect in weight loss on the scale.  Keep in mind that daily weighing can create an unhealthy addiction.   I recommend once a week max!   I prefer weighing once every 2 – 3 weeks to show true results.   Weighing daily reflects water retention, carb intake and fluctuations that aren’t necessarily accurate.

    This article is just what I needed to read! Thank you so much!! I feel like I have become addicted to the scale. I've lost 18 lbs. since the first of the year and have been so excited and want to lose more. So I excitedly check that stinking scale every single day - sometimes twice a day. Of course I'm let down when it hasn't moved in a few days and I know this is ridiculous on my part. So now that I've read this, I'm putting the scale away and only going to check once a month. Thanks again for alleviating unnecessary stress. Kel
