Why You Should Trade in Your Coffee For Matcha Tea

Coffee is one of the most popular morning beverages in America.  Statistics show that “About 83 percent of adults drink coffee in the U.S., the world’s biggest consumer of the beverage.  That’s an average of three cups a day per person, or 587 million cups. (source)”

5 Reasons to Trade in Your Coffee For Matcha Green Tea

1.) Avoid the Caffeine Crash and the Possible Weight Issues

While the world is addicted to their morning high, coffee comes with many negative aspects.   Coffee is an adrenaline high, followed by a crash later on in the day.   This is also accompanied by insulin spikes (which have been linked to weight gain), then or course the munchies (for many).   Matcha on the other hand is what has a more “clean” spark of energy with only a quarter of the caffeine.  There aren’t any crashes or insulin spikes, or jitters.

The 25 mg (or so) of caffeine bind with matcha’s phytonutrients (especially L-theanine) in a way that slows the body’s absorption of the caffeine; it typically lasts at least three hours, though some people report feeling it for as long as six or seven (source).

2.) Replace Coffee Breath with Bacteria Fighting Matcha Tea

No one likes brown tea, and acidic breath created by coffee.  Not to mention the long term affects of the acid on your body.   Matcha stops bacteria in it’s tracks and prevents plaque. This is a powerful way to attain optimal health through something dental hygiene.  In history, dental hygiene was responsible for some of the most historic death when not tended to.

3.) The Matcha Glow

Whether you are struggling with acne, aging, skin tags or other ailments, matcha is a powerful healer.  It has the ability to clear up  your skin using it’s antibacterial properties and antioxidants.

4.) Protect and Renew

Antioxidants, catechins, flavonoids, and polyphenols, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), have the ability to cleanse and protect the body from harmful chemicals and disease.

  • Studies suggest that EGCG inhibits the growth of breast cancer cells, both in live animals and test tubes.
  • Emerging animal and clinical studies are beginning to suggest that EGCG may play an important role in the prevention of cancer.

5.) Inflammation is Our Enemy

Unlike coffee which increases inflammation, matcha tea, is a powerful anti inflammatory.  This makes matcha one of the best beverages for people who suffer from inflammation (we all do).  EGCG is the major anti inflammatory in

it’s been shown to decrease the production of inflammatory prostaglandin E2), it’s a great tool to employ for patients with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and bursitis. Numerous patients with arthritic complaints feel better while on EGCG, which play a role in their tailored nutritional therapy program of diet, supplementation and exercise (source).

When you look at the benefits of Matcha tea verses Coffee, it’s an obvious choice!   Better breath, powerful anti aging properties, disease prevention, no insulin spikes (and possible weight gain), anti inflammatory properties, and cleaner energy!  If you know an avid coffee drinker who suffers from some the back leash affects, you may want to forward them this article.  They’ll thank you later 😉
