Nearly 80% of the population sits 8 hours or more per day.  Most people have little or no control over the amount of time they sit at their desk and in their car.  As fitness evolves we see more and more gadgets to help people burn calories while they work.  In previous articles, we talked about the treadmill desk, the ball chair and band exercises you can do on breaks at work.  Now, a new and cleaver invention has hit the web just in time for your new years resolution, the “Sitfit Plus.”

This inflatable plastic disc is meant to challenge your core as you sit and work.  On breaks, or at home, there are various exercises you can do to strengthen your abdominal muscles further.  The disc encourages proper alignment of your spine as you work so you don’t fall victim to poor posture.

You will notice that the disc also has a square portion.  If you face the square portion towards the back of the chair it makes the intensity of the sit fit harder.  If it faces forward it’s easier.  When you first start using this product, it’s recommended that you use it in 15 minute increments.  This will condition your body slowly.  However, if you are in great condition, you can use it without breaks to add to your current fitness level.

I have had clients use the dyna discs in the past to challenge their core as they sat.  However, the discs are completely round.  It’s not suited to the shape of your body.  Over time it becomes uncomfortable and soon gets thrown in the corner.
