Hoop It Up! Hoopilates

    We got a taste of the old trend making a “come back” when we revisited it during our Wii addiction.  Now, the hoop is becoming a new craze with it’s combination of Pilate’s moves. 

     Jen Bleier created the class by combining aerobic exercise, Pilate’s, and hooping.  While some think that hula hoops are just for kids; participants in this class insist that it’s much more then just a game.

“I was so focused on keeping the Hula Hoop up that I didn’t think about the physical activity as opposed to being on a treadmill,” she said.

Her friend Maureen Lloren, 24, who works for a music publisher and lured Yeh to Brooklyn, agreed that it was fun. She insisted it was “a real workout.”

“I didn’t think it was going to be that hard, but it was. It takes balance and coordination,” she said (source).

   Having fun should always be a part of your workout routine.  Hula hoops are something that most everyone can do.  Maybe it’s time to get off the boring treadmill and into a fun class that takes you mind off of the tedious cardio routine.
