Wish you could stop gaining weight? Now their’s an FDA approved weight loss pill for that! With America’s obesity epidemic on the rise there couldn’t be a better time.
The new drug Lorcacerin has made it’s way through the maze of FDA regulations and now into your doctors office. The new prescription weight loss drug which is marketed as Belviq is the first pill in 13 years to be approved.
How Does Lorcacerin / Belviq Work?
You know those voices in your head telling you to eat??? Well Belviq turns them off by telling your brain you aren’t hungry. The drug “safely” turns off the signals that your body sends. Before taking the medication there are some things you should know….
How Much Weight Will I Lose With Belviq? How quickly Will The Weight Come Off?? Does This Weight Loss Pill Really Work !??
Before you email your doctor in extreme excitement, there are some things you should know. The first rule is you must use the pill will a low calorie diet and exercise routine. While the drug will reduce hunger, it won’t stop you from “eating your feelings.” You must still be mindful of what you are consuming.
“Drugs like this are tools to help in weight loss. They are never intended to be the end all be all,” says Herrington. “The one thing we have seen over and over again in studies that causes weight loss is increasing exercise and choosing healthier foods (source).”
In studies of over 8,000 participants, lorcacerin helped to reduce weight by 3 to 3.7 percent of their body weight in the course of a year. Of the participants that were not diabetic, 47 percent of them lost up to 5 percent of their total weight.
So what does that mean in real numbers??? EXAMPLE: If you weigh 300 pounds you could lose between 9 – 15 pounds…. Those aren’t really the number people are hoping for! However, if you are at your wits end, that’s better then nothing.
If Im just trying to lose the last couple pounds can I take Belviq?
These weight loss pills aren’t meant for 5-7 pounds. However if your BMI is pushing 30 or greater, then you could be a candidate. Technically, anything over 27 puts you into the over weight category for BMI and over 30 puts you into the “obese” category.
Is Belviq /Lorcacerin safe?
Belviq has 3 negative side affects which include
- Depression
- Migraines
- Memory Lapses
I guess the real question is, are you willing to take the risk of having the side affects above for minimal weight loss? Or can you make some changes you’ve been meaning to make to lose the weight the natural way?? Of course, this site is always partial to eating clean and exercising. However, there are a lot of people out there that feel as though they need something to help them on their way. This FDA approved weight loss pill could give them the little push they need to get the ball rolling.
