HIIT training is becoming more and more popular due to the amount of success people are seeing and feeling. Many classes and training programs use it to boost results, but you can also do it on your own if you don’t have time to attend a class. At the bottom of this article we have included a HIIT Training Programs for beginners.
What does HIIT Stand For?
HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. This term describes a workout that alternates between high intensity burst or exercise followed by an amount of less intense exercise or even a resting period. You may have done this in your youth if you played sports, participated in track or any high intensity workout programs.
Benefits of HIIT Training
1.) Effective – Research says that 15 minutes of HIIT training 3 times per week is more effective then running at a slow pace for an hour. ACSM (American College of Sport Medicine) reported that 2 weeks of HIIT can improve your endurance more then 6 – 8 weeks of endurance training.
2.) Increase Fat Burning – HIIT training kicks your body into over drive forcing it to repair fast. This fierce routine has you in “after burn” for up to 24 hours later. The average run has an after burn of 2 – 6 hours.
3.) Happier Heart – Extreme training forces your heart to work hard. 8 weeks of HIIT training resulted in subjects bicycling twice as long! How’s that for field studies!
4.) Do it Anywhere – no need for machines you can do this type of exercise while running on the track, running in place, or in your home!
5.) Keep Your Muscle and Lose the Fat – Who doesn’t want this!? Ever seen a sprinter? They spend short amounts of time running but have some of the best looking bodies! Studies show that HIIT training allows dieters to keep their muscle while burning fat. Long bouts of cardio have the ability to burn muscle.
6.) Human Growth Hormone – YES PLEASE! – Human growth hormone is the fountain of youth in the fitness industry. HIIT helps you produce more HGH by up to 450 percent! This helps you burn more calories and look younger.
7.) BEAT Your Plateau – Stuck in a rut? Are you all out of results? Well Christmas is coming early and Santa is bringing you a new body and the rest of your results! High intensity interval training is where it’s at!
