If you have been following the biggest loser and all the finale winners; you know that winning does not always equal long term success. In a previous episode of the Biggest Loser, we saw old winners and contestants participate in the triathlon. As I viewed them doing the challenge I noticed that they all had something in common; they all gained 15 pounds or more since their last appearance. Some had even gained 30- 50 pounds back!!!
There’s something wrong with this picture! Bob and Jillian are aware of this backlash affect. They also know that this seems to be a running theme on the show. Why is it that after losing that amount of weight, and changing your life, you go back to your old ways?
Unfortuanalty, this does happen often in the fitness industry. People tend to slowly go back to their old eating habits and lifestyles. They forget about where they were and how they felt in that unhealthy, depressed state. Here are some fit tips to keep you on track once you have lost the weight or are still in the process of changing you lifestyle…
- Remind Yourself – Put a picture up on your fridge that shows you at your most unhappy, overweight state. This will make you think twice before you reach for that comfort food.
- Establish A Schedule – Make your exercise routine and eating habits a way of life. When your schedule gets compromised, seek solitude in your routine and return to you healthy lifestyle as soon as possible.
- Prepare A Fit Kit! – Every week put together a fit kit full of your supplements, bars, shakes, shaker cups, and healthy snacks. Bring this bag to work and in your car. Take it EVERYWHERE!!!! Make it a point to re stock your bag every week! This keeps you well equip for hunger cravings, and keeps the fat far away!!!
- Goodwill It – Do NOT keep your “fat clothes!” Sell them or give them away. Having them in your closet makes it too convinient. Buying a bigger size at the store can be somewhat of a slap in the face. Some people need this shock. They need to visually see that clothes are too tight in order to decide to make a change.
In many cases weight gain after a big loss comes from a lack of preparedness. People are stuck in there ways and they soon transition back to a more comfortable, familiar way of life. It takes a lot of work to change your life, but it takes even more to keep it that way! Get inspired by The Biggest Loser, learn from their successes, their failures and improve your life for the better.
