Pinterest Hack – How to Make Your Own Workout Routine Using Popsicle Sticks

April 21, 2015 by Adria Ali Leave a Comment

We do whatever it takes to accomplish our goals.  For a lot of us, we need to keep things interesting and fresh to avoid getting bored. This includes working out. What’s keeping you from your workout today? Is it that you’re tired of the same monotonous routine? We tend to conveniently forget about something if it’s no longer interesting to us.  That’s why it’s important to mix things up once in a while in order to reach our goals. This Pinterest hack will help you break free from the same boring workouts and it will teach you a fun way to make your workout routine.

What is The Popsicle Stick Workout?

Six different colored popsicle sticks with different exercises written on them that you choose at random to help you build your workout. There are six different colors that represent 6 different muscle groups. You can either choose one of each color to have a full-body workout or stick to one color group so that you can work one specific muscle group.  You can also do a split routine which would include 2 muscle groups.

Fitness Tips:   Make a color key for the colors and the muscle groups. The six different muscle groups are: cardio, core, legs, arms, back, chest.

What you’ll need:

-60 popsicle sticks
-6 different colors of paint
-1 black marker
-1 silver or white marker

What to do:
-Paint 10 popsicle sticks one color on both sides.  Wait until they dry, then write your favorite exercises on them. You can either write one or multiple exercises on one stick. Use the black marker to write on the lighter color paint, and the silver or white marker for the darker color paint.
How to make your own workout routine:
-After you’ve painted and labeled the popsicle sticks, pick 6 sticks at random to craft your own workout. That’s it! The good news is that you are choosing which exercises to include in the mix of popsicle sticks, you are’t forced to do an exercise that you do not enjoy.
Fitness Tips:  After you’ve chosen your sticks and you are planning on hitting the gym, snap a quick picture of the workout you created with your phone to take the exercises with you.
Example of a full-body workout:
-20 jumping jacks, 10 burpees
-20 ball twists, 30 second plank
-20 lunges, 20 squats
-20 bicep curls, 20 tricep extensions
-20 dips, 20 deadlifts
-20 push-ups, 10 bench presses
Don’t forget to comment and let us know how successful you are when you handcraft your own workout. Get creative, get motivated, be successful!
