Anna Kournikova has now been introduced as the new trainer on “The Biggest Loser.” While she has some big shoes to fill from her predecessor Jillian Michaels, I’m interested to see what her workout routines will entail. She will join trainers Bob Harper, and Dolvett Quince as the show continues to undergo changes since Michaels announcement to leave the show last year.
Anna says that this is “beyond her dream job.” After Kournikova did a guest spot on season 10 she said, “I was hooked.” She says she’s always been a fan of the show even before she was asked to appear. The inspirational quality the shows evokes is what appealed most to Anna.
What attracted you to “The Biggest Loser”?
“I’ve always been passionate about health and fitness, not to mention a fan of ‘The Biggest Loser,’ so I actually went after the opportunity to appear on the show. I met with the NBC and Reveille folks a while back and they asked me what my passions were in one of the meetings, and I told them health and fitness, without question. They invited me to do a guest appearance on the BL season 10, so I did that and lead the contestants thru a tennis workout, and it went really well. I knew that day that this was the perfect fit for me. At that point we started talking more seriously and I was fortunate that there was an opening for me to work with the contestants on a consistent basis and I jumped at it. This is beyond my dream job (source)”
Every season of ” The Biggest Loser” has a new twist. Season 11 has decided to categorize their teams into age groups. This could go one of two ways. Age could be a factor based on the ratio of muscle to fat. As you age you lose muscle. This could give the younger groups an edge. We will have to see if this is an unfair advantage or if the the mental immaturity of the younger group will keep them from climbing to the top.
