The worst thing about losing weight and inches is not losing them fast enough. Yet, how many people do you know that actually KNOW they want to lose weight gradually? The average person wants instant gratification… they want results and they want them now! If they don’t get the results they think they deserve for the amount of work they are putting; they do one or more of these things ….
- Freak Out and Quit
- Binge On Food They Haven’t Eaten in Weeks
- Rebel against the gym
Obviously, there is a problem with this approach. What people don’t realize is that normal “healthy” weight loss is actually quite slow. It is recommended that you lose 1-2 pounds per week. It might seem slow but it’s actually the best way to keep your muscle mass and still keep your metabolism healthy.
Reminder: The more weight you have to lose, the faster you will lose it. So, in the begining you will lose faster. The closer you get to your goal and the smaller you get, the less you will lose. In, the gym we tell people to only weigh every 3 weeks. This will give you a more accurate depiction of what is really happening. Weighing everyday is a HUGE “no, no.”
- Water weight varies depending on what you ate the day before
- Salt can cause you to bloat
- Lack of water or dehydration can cause you to store water
- Your “time of the month” could alter water retention.
It’s important that you coach yourself …. it didn’t take you a month to gain that 30 pounds. So, what makes you think you can take it off in a month? It’s much easier to gain weight then it is to lose it. Allow your body time to realize the changes you have made in your life and keep you mind calm, persistent, dedicated, and patient. This will save you a lot of anxiety and keep you on the road to a healthier and smaller body.
