Beauty Boost – Low Carb Key Lime Smoothie

Your food is your ultimate healer. It can also help to keep your skin youthful and glowing! This smoothie has some key ingredients for looking young and feeling young!  With filling omega fats form avocados, and beauty boosting collagen powder, you can feel full while giving your skin some much needed hydration.  This refreshing coconut beverage will help you avoid the sweets while still staying on track!

Ingredients for this low carb key lime smoothie

Makes 2 servings

  • 1 cup of coconut milk (try to find a low sugar version)
  • 1 cup ice
  • ½ avocado
  • collagen powder (optional) (1 serving)
  • zest and juice of 2 limes
  • liquid stevia (I prefer using the vanilla flavor liquid stevia to keep the carbs extra low), or honey

 

» To keep this recipe even lower in carbs, choose a sweetener that’s low in carbs.

 

Never used collagen powder?  Not to worry, here are my 2 favorite brands.  They are both from grass-fed beef.

 

Bulletproof Collagen Protein – This product allows you to add protein and collagen to your smoothie.  It also give it a creamy rich texture.

NeoCell Collagen –  This version of collagen doesn’t have as much protein but come from a great source and I love all of their products.

Directions for low carb key lime smoothie

  • Add the avocado, lime juice, collagen, sweetener, ice and coconut milk to your blender.
  • Blend until smooth, drink and enjoy!

 

Nutrition Facts

*These nutrition facts are using the Silk Pure Coconut Milk and liquid stevia sweetener.  You can choose to use a coconut milk with even lower carbs to reduce the carbohydrates.   Adding honey to the recipe will increase the carbohydrates.
