New Year’s resolutions are just around the corner and one of the biggest resolutions aside for weight loss is kicking the soda habit. According to the Huffintgon Post, nearly 48 percent of Americans drink soda daily. What’s even worse, is that out of that 48 percent, the average intake is 2.6 glasses per day! Doctor Oz, outlined a program on his show to read one of his viewers on their 12 a day soda habit. While she was ecstatic to start the program, we have no idea wether it worked or not. Here’s the outline of the plan. You tell US what you think, and if you believe that this program could help you stop your soda addiction in the New Year!
Dr. Oz’s 28 Days to Stopping Soda Addiction
Weeks One : If you are drinking regular soda, switch to diet soda. During this week, Doctor Oz encourages viewers to eat lots of beans, fish and eggs. Already drinking diet soda? Great! Move to week 2 and start from there (that’s my personal recommendation)!
Week Two : Switch from caffeinated soda to caffeine free soda. This allows your body to detox. Headaches from caffeine withdrawal? Doctor Oz suggests taking ibuprofen and eating food that contains high amounts of B vitamins.
Week Three : Cut You intake by half! If you are having trouble with this, try using some sparkling water and mixing it with your favorite fruit juice as a refreshing change that still has some fizz!
Week Four : NO MORE SODA!!! Yay! Chew some sugar free gum when you need that sweet fix!
Now that you know Doctor Oz’s 28 days to stopping soda addiction, you can write in and tell us what you think! Do you have some better tips and trick for our readers? Personally, I say minimize the sugar free gum at the end of this program. Sugar free leads to cravings for sugar.
