I assure you that this tip is fitness based, however, it can carry over into other parts of your life as well. I have been a trainer for over 12 years now. Over the years, I watched patterns emerge. While these patterns may seem trivial on the surface or in the gym, it became apparent that they weren’t ONLY when working out.
I have trained thousands of clients and I have been blessed to learn from each one of them. The most useful thing I noticed wasn’t apparent until about 6 years into my career. I began to see patterns in clients which transferred over into their daily life. It was this….
They didn’t finish what they started!!!
Sounds simple right?? The more I noticed it the more it made sense. These people weren’t over weight or out of shape because they were lazy. They merely stopped thinking that finishing something was important. Their self esteem got the best of them. They began to expect that they would never finish anything.
Of course, as soon as the light bulb went off in my head, I changed that ASAP. I began to make every client (especially the overweight and low self esteem ones) finish their sets. I didn’t care if they put the weight down, got a drink and came back, as long as it was completed.
Within weeks, the clients that were giving me a hard time and arguing about finishing began to do it on their own. They even applied it to their cardio. It transferred over into their sessions as well. They stopped rescheduling and and canceling.
It took me a while to realize that this small fitness tip changed the way they viewed themselves. Their self esteem grew, their weight decreased, their eyes brightened and they then knew that they could lose the weight and keep it off. Their fears of failure has seemed to have diminished and they slowly evolved into new people.
It’s tips like these that people need to know. Apply this to your workout routine. Finish each set, finish all your cardio, if you have plans to go to the gym then GO! Soon, you will see how this begins to apply to everything in your life.
