In general, carbohydrates are miss used and over eaten. People use them to calm down, relax after a hard day, and to feel full. However, carbohydrates original purpose was for FUEL! Running the lands and catching our prey is now a thing of the past, yet we eat more carbohydrates then was ever intended. Not only that, we have succumb to advertising, processing, and conditioning that tells us to eat carbs that are not natural. Lowering your carbohydrates and changing where they come from can alter your body for the better FAST!! Here are 3 pasta substitutes you could be eating to lower your carb intake and get to your goal faster!!!
Pasta Substitutes – Fill Up Without Filling Out
Spaghetti Squash It’s an oldie but a goodie, this squash is easy to prepare ash stays good in the fridge for ages! It’s also pretty cheap and you can add it to various dishes and side dishes. Here’s a previous recipe we posted.
You can use any kind of solid vegetable for this but I prefer Zucchini because it’s easy to find, affordable and stages good for long periods of time. You can also mix and match. Throw in 3 types of veggies for maximum vitamins! Then toss in a spagetti sauce or a low fat alfredo and BAM, low carb meal that fills you up without slowing you down! Changing your night time meal to include 1- 3 low carb substitutes can make a dramatic difference in you results. If you think this is going to be a huge challenge for you or for your family, introduce it slowly and allow your body to slowly adjust. Eating low carbs during the day and at night also allows you to drop water weight quickly. Next, you begin to lose excess fat. Since the water falls away within days, maintaining this kind of eating allows you to look leaner almost immediately. Remember my trainer tips from previous posts, I recommend between 100 to 150 grams of carbs per day. 150 is when you are very active. 100 is as if you didn’t move much or you are trying to cut up fast.
