I always watch new weight loss (reality) shows with a slightly cynical prospective. I prepared myself for this new show thinking it wasn’t going to be very good. I thought it might be boring. Maybe feature an actress who wasn’t willing to work for the weight loss. Possibly not even watch the whole show.
Of course, with my hectic schedule I recorded the show then watched it after work the next day. “Big Life,” surprised me by being very honest about Kristie’s struggles with an added scoop of comedy. I had no idea this show was going to be so funny! Sure, some areas of the show seemed a tad “staged”, but for the most part, I thought it was good and slightly motivating. You also see various perspective of Kirstie’s life such as her kids, her staff, house, eating habits and exercise routine.
It’s definitely nothing like the “Biggest Loser,” you don’t want to jump off your couch and hit the gym. However, it does give you the reality of the situation and the work that takes place to get in shape. I was actually very pleased at how Kirstie treated her staff and how sweet she was to all of the trainers she interviewed in the first show. I will definitely be following this show through out the season.
