I am always looking for new foods to mix up my healthy routine.   Since Trader Joe’s is literally across the street, I test out some of their new foods as they are released.  Sometimes I alter them to make them more healthy or to give them more bulk. These Grocery Fitness Foods can be found at Trader Joe’s, Your Local Health Food store and the normal super markets.

 

 

Fitness Foods – Power to the Greens

This mix is perfect for any salad, green drink or dish.   They are packed full of vitamins, minerals and nutrients.   Not to mention that they are organic too!  The only problem is that people are starting to catch on!  I’ve had a couple instances where they have been sold out (Trader Joe’s)

Hake en Papillote

This awesome fish comes in a parchment paper box.  You throw it in the oven for 30 – 40 minutes and BAM you have a low carb meal thats full of flavor as an easy after the gym meal!   I like to add extra vegetables to make it more filling.  It’s not exactly a low far meal at 14grams per box but it’s doable (Trader Joe’s)

Lite Kettle Corn

Need to satisfy your sweet tooth but you can’t stand to ruin all the hard work you did at the gym or in your Body Burn Bootcamp class???   Here’s the solution!!!  With only 100 calories, 4 grams of fat and 19 carbs, this treat is perfect! (Trader Joe’s)

NUGO Dark

This has got to be THEE BEST gluten free, dairy free bar on the market!!!   If you have allergies (or even if you don’t) then find this bar and try it out!!!   Great for protein, and has moderate amounts of carbs.  It’s great for on the go or traveling!  (Health food store like sprouts or whole foods)

These are great to add to gluten free pastas, sandwiches (to cut back on mayo) and for any types of meats and veggies.   They can give a bit of pizzaz without adding horrendous amounts of fat and calories.   Last night I use the chimichurri with asparagus and it was just enough to add flavor without the calories!   (regular grocery store – Albertson’s)

  Believe it or not, finding new and different foods each month to mix up your eating routine is the best way to stay on track!!!    Check back with us monthly for our Fitness Food Picks!
