Fit Foods – Powdered Peanut Butter With 85 Percent Less Fat Calories – PB2

When my mom told me about this product I thought it sounded a bit “off”  however after hearing her rave reviews and reading the reviews online I deemed it worthy of being named one of our fit foods!   As most people know, peanut butter is chalked full of calories and fat.  However, companies have been giving us low calorie protein bars with “peanut butter” for years.   How the heck could they make a bar taste so rich in peanut butter flavor, yet the calories added up to less then a serving of peanut butter (roughly 180 calories in 2 tablespoons of peanut butter).  The answer is in the peanut butter  powder.

   This peanut butter powder is rich in flavor yet low in calories and fat!   Genius!  Now all of your rich peanut butter recipes don’t have to leave your diet,  you just need to use the powder in it’s place!

 

What IS PB2?  

PB2 is made by squeezing the oil out of the peanuts.  What’s left is a powder.  When you’re ready to eat it you mix the peanut butter powder with water and it returns to a liquid form for consumption. You can change the amount of water you add depending upon the consistency.  If you want it to spread like peanut butter, then  you would use less, but for things like oatmeal you can add a bit more.

TRAINER TIP:  Are you using gobs of peanut butter in your protein shakes and in recipes?   Change it up and save your calories !!

 

Are There Other Brands of Peanut Butter Powder?

Sure there are!   PB2 became big fast due to popularity.   However others had come before and Trader Joe’s came after!

  • Lower in calories

45 calories, 1.5 g fat, 3g (net) carbs, 5g protein in 2 tablespoons compared to Traditional Peanut Butter 190 calories, 16g fat, 5g carbs & 5g protein]

  •  Supposedly its easier on your stomach if you have gastric problems.

“This powder can be used to flavor all kinds of items like pancakes, waffles, breakfast cereals, smoothies, milkshakes, plain milk, Chinese chicken salad, coatings for broiled and sautéed fish and chicken, whipped cream, cake, pie, cookies and other goodies.  I will be working on recipes to use this powder with so check back frequently if you would like ideas.”
