If you are loaded with kids and void of minutes in your day, read the short but informative interview below.
Q: What types of healthy snacks do you recommend moms pack?
BH: I would pack a little bit of hummus and some vegetables. I like to always carry apples with me everywhere I go. You can easily spread a little bit of natural peanut butter on your apples to make a healthy snack on the go. I feel that bars can be very tricky, however I have found that Perfect Foods Bar Lite is a great bar for moms and is only 199 calories. Oatmeal is also easily transported and perfect to make before running out the door.
Q: How do moms lose those last 10 pounds?
BH: Those last 10 pounds are the hardest in the world. After having a baby you almost have to redefine what you want your body to look like. You may or may not be able to get your body exactly to how it was before. Those 10pounds are going to continue to be harder to lose as we get older. Is there a way that we can embrace those 10 pounds? Those last 10 pounds are basically vanity pounds.
You have to be strict. You have to watch everything that you are eating. You have to write everything down and find time to constantly work out.
Q: Some parents feel they are saving money by eating fast food. What do you think?
BH: People feel that fast food is just so cheap. You go into the restaurant for a $1 burger but you end up spending so much more. I feel that people who eat fast food are actually spending more than they would if they purchased healthy food. Estimate how much you spend in fast food and then take that amount of money to Costco and purchase a large amount of fruits and vegetables and I bet that you will end up with a lot more food.
- “The mom is the center of the household. She is being constantly pulled in many directions. When mom is upset, everyone in the house is upset. When mom is happy, everyone else is going to be happy. Mom is everything to everyone.” – Bob Harper
